AC Milan’s Thiago Silva is wary of Inter Milan ahead of Sunday s derby, but says his side does not fear their city rivals.
After a disastrous start to the Serie A season under former coach Gian Piero Gasperini, Inter are now entertaining thoughts of the Scudetto having climbed to fifth in the table, on the back of five successive victories under Claudio Ranieri.
Inter s form has not gone unnoticed by title holders Milan, who are side by side with Juventus at the summit of Serie A.
But defender Thiago Silva says Milan are not afraid of the task at hand.
Inter has grown in recent times, the Brazilian told Sky Sport 24. We have respect for them but no fear.
Out of all of them, we have to pay attention to (forward Diego) Milito, who is a great player.
Addressing his own form, Thiago Silva said he was pleased: For a Brazilian it is not easy to adapt quickly to the Italian league, he said. So I m glad that I did it and now I am very proud to wear the captain s armband for Milan.
Thiago Silva, who has been capped 24 times by his country, arrived at San Siro from Fluminense in 2009 and has gone on to establish himself as one of the most highly rated central defenders in the world.
