Luke Shaw feared for his career after breaking his leg in two places in a Champions League game for Manchester United last September.

Shaw suffered the injury in a match against PSV and missed the rest of the campaign, including Euro 2016, as a result.

West Brom manager Steve Clarke believes Claudio Yacob is good enough to earn a recall to the Argentina squad.

Yacob, 25, won the last of his three caps for his country in 2011 while still at Argentine side Racing before moving on a free transfer to West Brom.

Nevertheless, Clarke believes that while Yacob s struggles with injury this term have contributed to a stop-start campaign for the midfielder, he has enough talent to force his way into Alejandro Sabella s squad in the future.

Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick says he would consider making himself available again for England selection.

Carrick, 30, reportedly rejected the chance to be part of Roy Hodgson s Euro 2012 squad on the basis he was not guaranteed first-team action, but has seemingly softened his stance.

I ve had no contact from Roy Hodgson, so it would be wrong of me at this stage to make a decision either way, Carrick told The Guardian.

Wigan Athletic FC have announced their signing under new manager Roberto Martinez.

Jordi Gomez, who has already played under Martinez during his year-long loan at Swansea from RCD Espanyol, has signed a three year contract which is thought to have cost £1.7m.

Jordi, who served his apprenticeship at his local club Barcelona before moving across the city to Espanyol, made his professional debut with the latter in 2008.
